Mark Lanegan overleden op 57 jarige leeftijd

Grunge icoon Mark Lanegan is gisteren overleden op 57 jarige leeftijd.

Het nieuws werd bekend gemaakt via de officiële Twitter-pagina van Mark Lanegan hemzelf.

“Our beloved friend Mark Lanegan passed away this morning at his home in Killarney, Ireland. A beloved singer, songwriter, author and musician he was 57 and is survived by his wife Shelley.  No other information is available at this time. We ask Please respect the family privacy.”, stond in de tweet.

Lanegan was tussen 1985 en 2000 frontman van Screaming Trees & heeft ook meegespeeld bij de Queens Of The Stone Age.

Zeer veel muzikanten van over heel de wereld hebben hun gedachten gedeeld over zijn overlijden.

Peter Hook schreef: “Mark Lanegan was a lovely man. He led a wild life that some of us could only dream of. He leaves us with fantastic words and music! Thank god that through all of that he will live forever.”

Manic Street Preachers schreven: “Devastated by this-heartbreaking. A huge talent on so many levels – such an amazing voice and all those beautiful words.”
