COVID-besmetting bij Metallica. Komt optreden Rock Werchter in gevaar?

Het optreden van Metallica vanavond (29/6) in Zwitserland is zojuist geannuleerd wegens een covid-besmetting binnen de groep.

“It is with a heavy heart that we have to announce that unfortunately we cannot perform in Frauenfeld because a member of the Metallica family tested positive for Covid despite the strictest hygiene measures. We regret beyond all measure to have to disappoint our fans.”, aldus de band.

Het bericht ging verder:

'It was our intention to reschedule a show in Switzerland as soon as possible, however in overnight discussions with the local promoters, sadly it became apparent that schedules and venues do not line up for the remainder of this year or next.'

Momenteel is er nog geen nieuws over hun optreden op Rock Werchter, aanstaande vrijdag.

De organisatie van Werchter heeft ondertussen wel een update gegeven:

"#Update A quick note as many of you reach out to us. We are in contact with Metallica’s team. They are hopeful to play at Rock Werchter this Friday."

Rock Werchter vindt plaats van donderdag 30 juni tot en met zondag 3 juli. TIckets voor het festival zijn alvast hopeloos uitverkocht.
